With my restful week behind me, the first opportunity that I was given during Thanksgiving break was taken in order to send out a few emails to my different professionals, addressing them over a second meet-up that we could have in order to solidify their position as my mentor. With my first two emails, I did not expect any response back, as both of those options were professionals that I was not as interested in compared to my third email to Ms. Safa Tariq. This email listed out that she could be a possible mentor for my ISM journey, and I addressed that we could set up a time to have a brief discussion and then confirm her position. At first, I had received no reply. Obviously, it could have been a holiday for herself, so I gave her the time she needed to respond. In the meantime, I focused on other things, including researching some technical skills that were discussed in order for me to be a proficient Business Analyst. In addition, I watched many videos regarding traits that a Business Analyst possesses so that I could further identify my strengths and weaknesses during my mentorship. By the end of the week, I learned many different coding processes in C++ and established a basic understanding of technical applications including Spreadsheets and Data Analytics. And now, prior to writing this blog, I have secured a time for an interview to begin my progression with a new mentor. All of this has been going to plan and without the planning that I had made throughout this week, none of this would have been possible. Consider my next two weeks planned as well, prepared with everything that I need to do to further ready myself for the ISM mentorship.
