I believe that one of my biggest fears of ISM was not the rigorous work, not the presentational aspect, and not the mentorship itself, but the fact that I may not enjoy the career that I had invested my year on. However, this very fear was something that was addressed by my mentor on our third visit, when she provided me the context of a business analyst. Their job is much more flexible and as a result, you will not be focusing on programming and coding various different aspects, and there will be the application of different documentation and communication that should be developed over time. This intrigued me, and at the end of the meeting, she provided me 2 different articles pertaining to different cases in which documentation had made a difference in regards to her job. These articles focused on Adobe Flash Player, which as of December 2020, had been shut down. As a result, many different companies began to hire business analysts to look into possible alternatives and solutions in order to help their company regain its ground. When reading what my mentor had to do, I was introduced to the different documentations she had created in order to identify solutions and test those solutions out. After understanding the context behind all of this, I began to become much more interested in what a business analyst had to offer, and how important of a job it can become. Thankfully, the fear I had of not enjoying my career had vanished, and the only thing that had remained is the excitement that has now been built up, ready to tackle on new challenges in the future with my mentor.
