Tuesday, October 27th, 5:51 pm. I was stationary in front of my camera, my heart beating heavily and my legs shaking. I looked over my questions over and over again, making definite sure I knew what I would be asking my professional. I contacted her about a week ago, with no response for the next few days. Afterward, the initial contact, with no response, I called her. She responded, and in the next few minutes I set up a spot for our interview. The initial excitement kicked in, followed by the nervous wreck I became. This was my first interview, and this will define my confidence for the rest of the interviews onwards. So here I am, perfecting my tie, fidgeting my legs, and taking deep breaths. I send her the zoom link, and within minutes my contact is in. Ms. Debye Leon. It was a brief discussion, but it was one where I received lots of information. She gave me information covering her daily career, her aspirations with the job, her efforts during her education, and some tips for someone interested in the field such as myself. It was everything that I had asked for. All the fears flew away over the discussion, All of my thoughts were collected, and all of my notes were proper. After the discussion, I learned that these interviews are only benefitting me for the future when I will be interviewed for an actual job. In addition, it gave me an insight into a mentoring opportunity, to further my growth as a professional business analyst. To say the least, the emotions were racked up. From nervousness to calmness, to exhilaration. Exhilaration for my future and for my next interviews.
