Developing connections for my future is essential for my growth. While I have always been afraid of making connections, the time has come for me to expose myself and my talents to the public and introduce myself as an aspiring business analyst. Over this past week, the effort I have applied in order to display myself to others has been proved fruitful. Just a few days back, I got an email regarding the ISM program, and immediately got a position to interview a professional business analyst regarding the career and the future ahead of me. But this was the only email returned back. Only after 20+ emails, 4 phone calls, and over 15 LinkedIn contact messages, I only received 1 email back. This placed a strong sense of pressure, as time was ticking. I needed connections, I needed people, I needed a place to create a strong bond for my future. And even though I tried to reach out to many people, I got no response. It was hurtful, it was upsetting, and it was hard. But it was not going to put me down to the end. ISM is a program that only the most determined would be accepted into the program. I got accepted because those above me saw potential in me. They saw the determination in me. And now, that determination got me an interview. It got me a connection, that can set me up for the future. The future as a great business analyst. Not a good one, but a great one.
